Youth Advisory Board

LICADD is committed to ensuring that young people have a meaningful voice in program design, development, execution and evaluation. LICADD’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB) brings together young people of diverse backgrounds from across Long Island to share their experiences, opinions and insights with the agency’s Board of Directors, management team and staff responsible for prevention education, community outreach and adolescent services. Guided by their unique experiences and peer relationships, members of the YAB not only provide feedback on LICADD’s programs and strategies, but also generate new ideas on how to make drug-free and alcohol-free living the norm, rather than the exception.
Members of LICADD’s Youth Advisory Board also lead the way in their own communities, their schools and amongst their peers as they spread the word about the importance of healthy choices and substance-free living. Our YAB members are among our most active volunteers and regularly participate in agency outreach activities, special events, program development and day-to-day operations.
Membership on LICADD’s YAB is open to young people ages 15-21 and a desire to make a difference is a must. The group meets monthly and generally alternates between our Nassau and Suffolk County locations. Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 6:00PM-8:00PM in LICADD’s Ronkonkoma offices located at 2805 Vets Highway, Suite 26.
