LICADD's 22nd Annual Peter Sweisgood Breakfast Honors Addiction Treatment, Prevention and Media Champions
The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence’s 22nd Annual Peter Sweisgood Breakfast will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 10:00AM-1:00PM at the Melville Marriott. This year’s honorees include: Treatment Champion Stewart Paul (posthumously), former Associate Director at LICADD, “Grand Old Man of Seafield” and Recovery Advocate; Community Champion and extraordinary educator Stephen L. Dewey, Ph.D, who serves as Co-Director of the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, Laboratory of Molecular and Behavioral Neuroimaging, North Shore/LIJ; and Media Champion News 12 – Pat Dolan, Shari Einhorn, Debi Gade & Lea Tyrell – for their hard-hitting series “Addicted on Long Island” detailing our region’s struggles with prescription pill misuse and diversion.
“The Peter Sweisgood Breakfast provides us with an opportunity to honor our rich history and express our appreciation to our contemporary partners in addiction treatment and prevention,” said LICADD Executive Director, Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds. “We remember and honor the dedication, talents and life’s work that Father Pete and our founder, R. Brinkley Smithers contributed to the road to recovery, and simultaneously recognize those who have helped sustain that legacy of service to the present day as we serve more individuals and families than ever before.”
Tickets to the breakfast are just $45 and a table of ten costs $400. LICADD is also pleased to offer a variety of sponsorship opportunities, all of which come with prominent recognition and great visibility at Long Island’s premier addiction event. Proceeds from the Peter Sweisgood Breakfast support LICADD’s family interventions and other clinical services for adults, children and families.
