LICADD Comments On NYS Member Item Cuts

Posted on September 7, 2010 under Latest LICADD News

Like many other Long Island non-profits, LICADD typically receives some money from local members of the NYS Assembly and Senate. These funds support our school and community based alcohol and drug abuse prevention programs. This year, member items were eliminated from the state’s budget altogether, resulting in a statewide funding reduction of more than $150 million. LICADD receives very little in the way of state money – less than $25,000 annually, yet this cut will hamper our ability to work in Long Island’s schools. An article in the New York Non-Profit Press details the cuts and potential impact. LICADD’s Executive Director Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds is quoted and the article is linked here.
