LICADD Presents One-Day Anger Management Workshop on August 28, 2010
Helping Long Island Families Create Healthy Relationship and Safe Homes
August 9, 2010-The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (LICADD) announced that it will hold its next fast-track, one-day Anger Management workshop on Saturday, August 28, 2010 in Ronkonkoma. “The pressures most people are experiencing these days have boosted the fear, anxiety and depression that frequently manifests itself in anger directed at others,” said LICADD Executive Director Jeffrey Reynolds. “LICADD’s anger management program has helped dozens of Long Islanders improve their relationships at work, home, school and in the community.” This is the 4th one-day workshop LICADD has offered and it has proven to be a popular and successful venture.
The one-day anger management workshop includes 8 hours of instruction, interaction and exploration. To maximize program effectiveness and to allow for optimal participation, attendance is limited to twelve participants. Classroom exercises, role playing, and instructional materials are given to help and guide participants to learn skills such as stress management, better communication, anger management, empathy, conflict resolution and impulse control. The class is accepted by all courts, probation departments and Child Protective Services. After completion of the class, participants will receive an official certificate of completion.
The fee for the workshop is based on a sliding scale, dependant on the participant’s income and financial circumstances. All prospective participants in the program must come in for an hour-long intake/evaluation appointment at LICADD’s Williston Park, Ronkonkoma or Riverhead offices.
In addition to anger management classes, LICADD continues to provide state-of-the art addiction services including: family interventions; chemical dependency evaluations; treatment referrals; relapse prevention support groups; and an Employee Assistance Program.
