Open Arms Employee Assistance Program & Visionary Health Solutions Host "Stress Management for Health Professionals" Workshop
April 12, 2010- The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence’s, Open Arms Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is joining forces with Visionary Health Solutions to present “Stress Management for Health Professionals – Get Past Your Personal ‘Stuck Points’ to Really Manage Your Stress and Anger,” a full-day self-care workshop for doctors, nurses and other health and mental health professionals. The workshop will be held from 10:00AM-4:00PM on Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Amityville, NY and coincides with National Nurses Week (May 6-12th) and National Hospital Week (May 9-15th).
“Health care professionals, because of the nature of their work, hectic schedules and roller-coaster ups-and-downs, experience considerable stress,” said
Open Arms EAP Executive Director Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds. “Left unchecked, that stress mounts and impacts physical health, mental well-being, and interpersonal relationships. Anxiety, depression, substance abuse, misplaced anger and family discord have become all too common among those who have dedicated their lives to helping others,” he added.
This interactive workshop will be facilitated by Susan Eisner, MPH, CASAC, President of Visionary Health Solutions, who has a long history of working with physicians, nurses and allied health professionals. Ms. Eisner notes that, “Health professionals are great at caring for others, but not as attentive when it comes to their own needs and behaviors. This unique seminar uses highly experiential, cutting-edge exercises that help participants uncover their underlying ‘blocks’ that prevent self-care and get them ‘un-stuck’ and moving forward. It offers a great chance to learn how to set boundaries, gain new strategies for managing stress, anger and anxiety and learn how to enjoy a more relaxed and fulfilling life.”
The workshop is $99 paid in advance and $129 at the door. It is being held at Seafield’s Training Center located at 37 John Street in Amityville. For more information or to register, please contact LICADD at 516-747-2606.
