The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence’s (LICADD) 23rd Annual Angel Ball Kick-off celebration held on March 10, 2010 at Kellenberg Memorial High School was a huge success. Hosted by Father Philip K. Eichner, S.M., with the assistance and hospitality of Kellenberg’s students, the event raised over $150,000 towards the 2010 Angel Ball goal of $250,000. Committed sponsors to date include Adele C. Smithers and the Smithers Foundation, Rita and Frank Castagna and the Americana Manhasset, Hirschleifer’s, Kellenberg Memorial High School, Maureen and Mickey Brennan, North Sea Advisors and several others.
This year’s Angel Ball will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Garden City Hotel. Best-selling author and Public Advocacy Consultant for Caron Treatment Centers, Christopher Kennedy Lawford will receive the 2010 LICADD Humanitarian Award and is the keynote speaker. LICADD’s Vice Board Chair, Bill Baum of Essex Mfg. Inc., has been named as the 2010 Founder’s Award recipient.
LICADD Board Director, Jeffery Capazzi of The Jobin Organization, Inc., is serving as this year’s Angel Ball Chairman and said: “Honoring Bill as this years Founder’s award recipient is the perfect opportunity to acknowledge his leadership, integrity, compassion and commitment to community and family” said Capazzi. LICADD board chair Curt Webster agreed. “Bill’s commitment to LICADD has been unwavering and his support has helped us save a great number of lives. It’s only fitting that we take some time to recognize and honor his hard work.”
For over twenty-three years, this annual event has brought together parents, educators and leaders in government, law enforcement, and the treatment field in support of LICADD’s programs. LICADD’s Angel Ball is one of the nonprofit organization’s key fundraising events and organizers hope to raise more than $250,000 through sponsorships, ticket sales and onsite auctions/raffles. Tickets to this year’s Angel Ball are $500 and are available online or via phone at 516-747-2606. Sponsorships start at $1,500 and all event proceeds support LICADD’s life-saving services.
