LICADD ED Meets with Delegation from Uruguay to Discuss Drug Policy

LICADD Executive Director Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds joined NCADD on Monday for a meeting with government officials from Uruguay to discuss drug policy. Mr. Ricardo German Gil Iribane, Secretary General of Uruguay’s Money Laundering Unit, Mr. Milton Romain Gerner, Secretary General of the National Drug Bureau and Mr. Jorge Luis Vazquez Rosa, Deputy Chief of Staff for the Presidency represented Uruguay, while NCADD’s Bob Lindsey and Leah Brock, along with Wayne Wirta, President/CEO of NCADD New Jersey and LICADD’s own Dr. Reynolds represented the United States. The group talked about treatment efforts, prevention strategies and challenges facing their respective countries with a particular emphasis on alcohol. “It was fascinating to explore the commonalities and to get a more global perspective on drug and alcohol addiction,” said Dr. Reynolds following the 90-minute meeting in Manhattan.
