LICADD Announces Launch of New Anger Management Workshops

Posted on July 2, 2009 under Latest LICADD News

The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (LICADD) today announced the expansion of its programs with the launch of a wide range of anger management services. Long Island residents are living in one of the most challenging economies in the country and are confronted on a daily basis with inordinate economic and social stresses and are often left desperately seeking effective anger management services that they can afford. This program is designed to meet the growing need for services in Nassau and Suffolk counties. LICADD executive director, Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds noted, “the economy has left Long Island’s families struggling to cope with an increasingly unstable job market, rising taxes, inflation and a parallel decline in the availability of mental health and counseling services. Travel two exits on the Long Island Expressway in the morning and the incredible need for effective, affordable anger management services becomes clear.”

LICADD’s Long Island anger management workshops are designed to help participants learn appropriate coping skills and responses to these new and evolving stressful situations. These services are based on three models – intensive day-long workshops, professional coaching and weekly workshops. The first day-long session will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009 in Hauppauge and the weekly sessions will begin in late August. Coaching services are available immediately.

“LICADD’s varied anger management programs will provide customized solutions for individuals seeking help managing their interpersonal and professional relationships,” said the organization’s Clinical Director Steve Chassman, LMSW. LICADD’s anger management workshops are held in two separate formats in both Nassau and Suffolk. Anger management coaching can be scheduled anytime and is ideal for corporate executives, physicians and other health care professionals, attorneys, police and fire department personnel, athletes, and anyone seeking an individualized solution with even greater confidentiality protections.

Anger management coaching is not psychotherapy, but rather educational, instructional and focused on the “here and now,” rather than the past. LICADD’s anger management coaches are exceptionally well qualified with Master’s degrees, doctorates and many years of experience.

In addition to this comprehensive anger management series, LICADD continues to provide state-of-the art prevention education services for schools and community centers, interventions, chemical dependency evaluations, treatment referral and an Employee Assistance Program.
